I’ve always loved reading. When I was younger I could always be found snuggled up somewhere with a book in hand. More recently though, because life has taken over, I havent had much time or motivation to read. However, lately i’ve been trying to read again. Here are some of my all time favorites varying from poetry to classics. There is definitely a coming of age theme going on here.
A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith- When I read this for the first time in sixth grade I immediately decided it was my favorite book. Something about the life and growing up of Francie Nolan struck a cord with me.
Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston – A must read by one of my favorite authors.
We Were Liars by E. Lockhart- This book had me captivated the entire time and the twist at the end left me literally lost for words.
Great Expectations by Charles Dickens- Though this is a long book, it’s a classic and should be read at least once.
Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen- I have re-read this one too many times to count!
Milk and Honey by Rupi Kaur- A collection of poems that are so important for every teen girl to read.
The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nightime by Mark Haddon – I loved this book so much that I even saw the broadway play. It was so different from anything I’ve read because it is told from an autistic boy’s perspective. The play was incredible because it has an interactive stage and I feel truly represents the main character’s feelings.
